Na virtuálnych potulkách mojím archívom som objavil niečo, čo som odfotil ešte minulý rok v Severnom Írsku. Jedná sa o fotky ruín starého opátstva pri dedinke Grey Abbey, založeného v roku 1193. Hneď vedľa opátstva je cintorín. Fascinovalo ma čítanie nápisov na starých náhrobných kameňoch, niektoré z nich sú doslova príbehmi. Tu je niekoľko obrázkov…

Something rather unusual happened today, especially at 10:10:10am. I wanted to mark this occasion by collaborating with two other artists but it somehow didn’t happen. I had been thinking about a theme for this project when one of the people I had invited to work with me came up with an idea of Decalogue. Hard to beat, isn’t it? So, here is my version of it. (I am planning to launch an e-Book and offer the images as a limited edition of prints. Keep an eye on this blog if you are interested.)

All of the plants are dead, yet they carry an important piece of information for future generations. That’s why they remind me of the Ten Commandments.

Dnes sa udialo niečo výnimočné, zvlášť dopoludnia o 10:10:10. Zamýšľal som vytvoriť v tento deň niečo a uvažoval som o spolupráci s ďalšími dvoma umelcami, žiaľ, nestalo sa. Keď som uvažoval o téme pre tento projekt, jeden z ľudí, ktorých som oslovil, prišiel s myšlienkou Desatora. Ťažko človek vymyslí niečo lepšie, že? Takže, tu je moja verzia.

Všetky tieto rastliny sú mŕtve, a predsa nesú veľmi dôležitú informáciu pre ďalšie generácie. Práve preto mi pripomínajú Desať prikázaní. (Plánujem vydať e-Book a ponúknuť celú sériu ako limitovanú kolekciu obrazov. Pozrite sa občas na tento blog, ak vás to zaujíma.)

(Pozn.: Slovenský text Desatora doplním neskôr, v tejto chvíli pri sebe nemám Slovenský ekumenický preklad, ktorý chcem použiť.)

We are re-decorating our apartment, and my wife (self-nominated, nevertheless excellent interior designer) ordered some colour-specific images for our walls. I decided to go for a rather minimalist photographs of plants. Here they are, already approved by the designer…

Dokončujeme práce na našom byte a moja manželka (samozvaný, ale skvelý interiérový dizajnér) si objednala obrazy na steny v špecifických farbách. Rozhodol som sa pre minimalistické fotografie rastlín. Tu sú, schválené dizajnérom…

Grandpa

Mostly Trees

I would like to do a 365 Project. But if I ever do it, I want to make it harder for myself. Every image will have to be printable in a book (high image quality), hangable on someone’s wall (fine-art style), and the whole project will have to have a theme.

One of the themes I would probably consider is ‘Trees’.

Today, I went to the Belvoir Park Forest and concentrated on trees, branches, leaves, etc – just to prove to myself that 365 photos of trees don’t necessarily have to bore the audience to death. Here are 20 tree-inspired images (plus 2 non-tree-inspired ones as a bonus). Please let me know if you find this post boring…

Nendrum Monastery

My determination to get up at 6am on Saturday was strong enough, so I managed to accomplish what I wanted. Kind of…

I was lucky there was some snowfall and frost at night and clear sky in the morning. But even though I was there before sunrise, I wasn’t the first to visit Nendrum Monastic Site on Mahee Island that morning. Two visitors left their shoe-prints in the snow.

I was harder to photograph than I expected as rich people built houses and keep their yachts whichever direction you look. I didn’t want to have modern mansions in the pictures together with the ruins of buildings 1500 years old.

However, Machaoi chose a beautiful place for this monastery…

Sidetracked

I got sidetracked on my way to and from a photoshoot last Saturday. I love fog and mist as a background and there was plenty of it that day. Here are a few images I managed to take (it usually pays off to leave way too early…).
